Digital Matter Attends Exclusive IoT Event Presented by Spark NZ

Digital Matter

IoT has certainly arrived in New Zealand.

We were excited and honored to participate in Spark NZ’s invite-only IoT Event “Internet of Awesome Things” held on July 17 in Auckland. As the country’s leading mobile network, Spark is pioneering IoT development in New Zealand and beyond.

“Internet of Awesome Things” showcased global IoT trends and local applications, with five featured vendors: Digital Matter, IoT Ventures, Black Hawk Tracking, Modu Sense/LayerX, and Cisco.

With over 3,000 assorted devices ordered to date, such as the Oyster2, Yabby GPS, Yabby WiFi, and Oyster LoRaWAN, Spark and Digital Matter’s partnership provides enterprise, government and corporate segments with unbeatable battery-powered tracking technology for asset management.

Launching a national public LoRaWAN network in March of 2018, Spark is now working on its own NB IoT network for affordable, low power connectivity, perfect for our range of IoT devices and sensors.

Event speakers included: Neil Osmond, Vice President / Distinguished Analyst at Gartner; Michael Stribling, Tribe Lead – Managed Services for Spark; Jolie Hodson, CEO Spark; and many more industry experts.

CIO of Mainfreight Kevin Drinkwater discussed his IoT journey, beginning with a need to track highly regulated toxic and radioactive products transported via Chemcouriers. Through Spark’s network, Mainfreight has integrated over 260 Oyster LoRaWAN devices for on-demand location tracking and asset management. (Learn more about how Mainfreight uses Spark Asset Tracking and Digital Matter devices here).

Spark NZ and Digital Matter understand how IoT advancements can transform entire industries. Together, we are committed to helping future-proof Kiwi and global business operations.

We’re on board with Gartner VP / Distinguished Analyst Neil Osmond’s insight into the future of IoT: in five years’ time there will be one million IoT devices sold every hour across the world.
