In what countries do Digital Matter devices work?

You bet. Our devices operate almost anywhere in the world.

What is the device warranty period?

All devices have a 12 month warranty period from date of dispatch.

How does Digital Matter secure my telematics data?

We have implemented comprehensive security protocols on our devices and software to protect against attacks on the integrity and confidentiality of your telematics data. Learn more about authentication and encryption here. 

Where are Digital Matter devices manufactured?

Our devices are manufactured in South Africa.

Where is Digital Matter located?

Our head office is in Perth, Western Australia. We also have offices in Bryanston, South Africa, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and soon Amsterdam, Holland.

Integration

Can Digital Matter devices integrate with other software platforms?

Yes! We provide comprehensive documentation and support to assist you in integrating our devices.

Many of our devices are already supported on platforms such as MyGeotab, Navixy, Wialon, and more. We can also send data via Webhook, TCP or HTTP/HTTPS, Direct Integration, or Data Splitting to a platform of your choosing.

Our LoRaWAN® devices feature an open payload format, making them easy to integrate.

How can I check if there is LTE-M or NB-IoT connectivity options in my country?

Do I need a SIM card to use Digital Matter devices?

Our 2G, 3G, and LTE-M / NB-IoT devices require SIM cards and data plans. Our LoRaWAN® devices require a LoRaWAN Gateway Network. Similarly, our Sigfox devices need a Sigfox Network (via a Sigfox Network Operator).

Battery-Powered

What batteries do the Digital Matter devices use? Can they take rechargeable batteries?

Most of our battery-powered devices use standard off-the-shelf Lithium batteries that can be purchased at any supermarket/hardware store. Several devices also support and/or require Lithium Thionyl Chloride (LTC) batteries, which are rated for high-temperature applications. View battery recommendations here.

Our battery-powered devices do not support rechargeable batteries.

Several of our hardwired devices feature internal rechargeable battery packs. Be sure to check the device’s datasheets for complete information on battery types.

Can I change the location update rate on battery-powered devices?

Yes!

Our battery-powered devices feature Periodic or Movement-Based tracking. Configure the device to send updates at set time intervals (1x, 5x, 10x a day) and/or when movement occurs. Stationary devices enter sleep mode, switching the update rate to only twice per day until movement occurs to conserve battery life and optimize data usage.

If an asset is lost or stolen, our devices can be switched to Recovery Mode, which activates “live-tracking” at 30-second intervals to aid in recovery.
