The Dart2, G62 and G120 all support the use of the iButton Driver ID reader and tags. Sometimes known as 1-wire readers. Manufactured by Dallas Semiconductor – an iButton is a microchip housed in a round stainless steel button (it looks a bit like a coin cell battery). iButtons and their readers require physical contact to function – but they are cheap, rugged and effective. This reader is commonly used with the G62, as it is the only compatible reader for this device. However it can be used with the other devices if a low cost solution is desired. The RFID Driver ID Reader will pair with the G120 and Dart2 if desired. Driver ID readers enable a driver to be capture against each trip or event. To track driver behaviour, asset usage or for safety reasons. Further to this a list of drivers can be downloaded to the device, and the installation wired so that the device can immobilise the vehicle. Then it can be set so that only certain approved drivers may start a vehicle.
