Next-Generation LoRaWAN® Asset Tracking Devices

Digital Matter

We’ve been busy working on the next-generation versions of our asset tracking devices for LoRaWAN®, and we’re excited to share our 2022 LoRaWAN Hardware Roadmap!

The next-gen versions of our LoRaWAN devices feature improved GNSS performance, longer battery life, and refined IP67 housings for even better durability. Owning our own LoRaWAN stack also means we are well-positioned to adapt quickly to updates to the LoRaWAN standard.

Watch our video below to learn more. We encourage you to forecast your requirements for 2022 and to place orders early with your local Digital Matter office.

Next-Generation Design Considerations

Availability – Design for availability with large quantities of components ordered and confirmed
Performance – Major improvements in ‘deploy once’ battery life
Innovation – Evolutionary updates to components and hardware features
Outperform – Focus on performance and reliability to continuously outperform

New GNSS Technology

  • A large portion of battery power is used to determine location using GNSS. For LoRaWAN devices, the limited downlink capability means we don’t have aiding data.
  • Utilizing new GNSS technology – similar to what is used in fitness watches
  • New chipset uses 20% of the power of previous

Improved Housing

  • All new devices use PA6 nylon glass housings – IP67 rated
  • New over-moulded seals provide improved fit and reliability
  • Stainless steel screws provided as standard
