2022 Hardware Roadmap: Next-Generation OBDII & Wired Devices (Cellular)
Our mission is to help businesses connect, protect, and derive more value from their assets. As a leading global innovator, developer, and supplier of IoT solutions, we drive continuous innovation to enable our partners to deploy confidently at scale worldwide.
We’ve been busy working on the next-generation versions of our OBDII and Wired tracking devices, and we’re excited to share our 2022 Hardware Roadmap – Next-Generation Wired Devices (Cellular).
In addition to offering the largest portfolio of battery-powered asset tracking devices, we also offer plug-and-play and wired devices for traditional fleet management, vehicle, and heavy equipment tracking applications.
Watch our video below to learn more about the next-gen versions of these devices. We encourage you to forecast your requirements for 2022 and to place orders early with your local Digital Matter office.
Next-Generation Design Considerations
Availability – Design for availability with large quantities of components ordered and confirmed.
Performance – Focus on performance and reliability to continuously outperform
Innovation – Evolutionary updates to components and hardware features
Improved LTE-M/NB-IoT Modem Options
- Excellent support for LTE-M (Cat-M1) and NB-IoT
- Seamlessly switch between LTE-M and NB-IoT networks
- Great roaming across Europe
- New networks rolling out every month
- Reduce data usage and ongoing costs
- Lower energy usage means backup battery on devices lasts longer – Viable for installation where power may not be constant – trailer tracking
Enhanced Cell Tower Location
- Cell Tower ID and neighbouring cell timing data for location – can be used for fallback location if GNSS fails to get a fix (basement, container etc)
New Devices
Bolt2 – LTE-M (Cat-M1) / NB-IoT
Plug-and-play OBDII GPS vehicle tracking device now with backup battery
View Tech Specs
- Addition of the internal rechargeable back-up battery – Great to be notified if device is unplugged or tampered with
- Larger GNSS antenna and ground plane plus other improvements give fantastic GNSS performance for even better tracking in difficult situations like basements, urban canyon, forests etc
- New – Cell tower timing data for location fallback
Dart3 – 2G and LTE-M (Cat-M1) / NB-IoT versions
Robust and affordable wired GPS tracking device with I/O’s, immobilization, driver ID, driver behavior monitoring
View Tech Specs
- New – Added an analogue input
- New – Added an additional digital input
- New – Added extra Driver ID support for Wiegand
- New – Cell tower timing data for location fallback
G70 – 2G and LTE-M (Cat-M1) / NB-IoT versions
IP67 rated and robust wired GPS tracking device with I/O’s, immobilization, driver ID, driver behavior monitoring
View Tech Specs
- New – Added an analogue input
- New – Added an additional digital input
- New – Added extra Driver ID support for Wiegand and RFID
